The 4th Annual Outer Banks National Soft-Shell Week took place May 11 - 16 , 2026 where 41 Outer Banks restaurants showcased original soft-shell dishes and diners could vote for their favorite entrees.
Blue Moon Beach Grill took home 2nd place, with Kill Devil Grill receiving the top honors. New for 2026, the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau introduced the official event mascot, Sheldon the Crab, who surprised our customers with a visit at Blue Moon. Sheldon passed out $25 gift cards to any customer enjoying a soft-shell dish when he arrived.
It was fun week and we sold a lot of softies! Thank you to all of our customers who dined with us and gave us a vote. It's hard to beat a fresh local soft-shell crab! We look forward to 2027...
